Almaty. At the Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, under the organization of Professor Klara Kabylgazina, an educational session titled “The Waving of The Blue Flag” was held. The purpose of this educational session was to guide young people to honor the sacred concept of the “Motherland,” to inspire their love for the country and its land, and to awaken a profound sense of respect for their nation. The author of the song “The Waving of The Blue Flag” — the writer of its lyrics — Almas Akhmetbek, was invited as a guest speaker. This song is regarded as one of the most iconic patriotic works, second only to the national anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “My Kazakhstan.” During the performance of the song, the students welcomed the guest of the session. Poet and Honored Cultural Figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Almas Akhmetbek, was born and raised in the People’s Republic of China. After Kazakhstan gained independence, he returned to his ancestral homeland. Upon crossing the border, he saw the Blue Flag fluttering in the wind. For a poet who had long yearned for his native land, this moment left a profound emotional imprint, bringing tears to his eyes and inspiring him to write the following lines:
The waving of the blue flag,
It fills my soul with strength.
If my soul and my flag were to fight,
It is not soul that I would choose,
But the blue flag, waving free...
During the session, the poet also recited other poems centered on patriotic themes. Young poets (students) presented their own works to the audience as well. The students expressed their sincere gratitude to Professor Klara Kabylgazina for organizing the patriotic session titled “The Waving of The Blue Flag”. (KazNU Press Service)
